Dying to be thin - collaborative teamwork in fighting anorexia

27th April

This workshop will provide a good introduction to anyone wanting to develop thinking and interventions around combatting an eating disorder, as well as the opportunity for a dialogue around delegates' experiences and concerns in this most challenging therapeutic arena.

The presenters will use their experiences of working in a multi disciplinary team to combat eating 'disorders'.  Through the lens of anorexia and bulimia nervosa they will illustrate how, in an adolescent and adult mental health setting, systemic, psychodynamic, medical and behavioural perspectives are drawn together for the benefit of fighting eating issues.

Presenters:

Daiva Barzdaitiene and Nigel Jacobs

Daiva is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychoanalytical Psychotherapist.  Nigel is a UKCP Systemic Family Psychotherapist and BACP Couples Counsellor.  They both work for the Kent and Medway NHS Eating Disorders Service
