Mindfulness for counsellors and therapists

One full practice day, 27th May, plus 8 x 2 hour sessions, April - June

This course will draw on mindful practices used on MBSR*, MBCBT* and mindful ways to pain management courses.  (MBSR = Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, MBCBT = Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programme for preventing relapse in depression)

In addition to the eight weekly meetings there will be a day event to provide a context for more sustained practice.  This is an ideal opportunity for clinicians to practice mindfulness together, providing a context for experiencing first hand how making a commitment to sustained mindful-practice over a two month period may bring change and provide a context for change over time.

The programme will follow the course as outlined in other MBSR and MBCBT programmes bringing some adaptation in order to include systemic thinking.

Participants will be expected to commit to about one hour of home practice each day of the eight week period.  This will involve following a home practice schedule guided by handouts and a CD and involve some journal writing.
