Multiple family therapy in schools: the Marlborough model

11th May

The Marlborough Multi Family model has been recognised as an innovative model of mental health support delivery to children and their families.  It has been named in several government publications.

The model is unique in that it brings together children, parents, teachers and CAMHS professionals, ensuring a mutual understanding of a child's mental health needs.  Emotional, conduct, hyperkinetic and attachment disorders are addressed in a stigma-free setting.

The steps to setting up and running the multiple family therapy groups will be shared using dvd case material, guided role-play demonstrations and written guidance, including the theorectical underpinning for the model.

Presenters:  Neil Dawson and Brenda McHugh created and developed the model.  They are both experienced teachers and Consultant Systemic Psychotherapists based at the Marlborough Family Service, London.  They have over 29 years experience of successfully embedding the model in the UK, Denmark,Sweden and Norway.  They have also co-authored a number of publications.
