Approaches to conflict
Approaches to conflict - a six day programme for helping professionals
Working with people is inherently about managing relationships, and staff in the helping professions often find that managing conflict is a regular feature of their daily work. Professionals from many disciplines will benefit from this accessible and practical programme. Starting with a theoretical foundation, the course builds into a sound and practical framework for approaching conflict with greater confidence and a sense of capability.
We start with an exploration of key understandings of interpersonal conflict, including the behavioural, psychological and emotional dynamics, and link this to background reading. This is followed by a series of workshops on how to apply these learnings in specific situations including workplace, family and public settings, and other contexts. The final day will be a masterclass devoted to casework brought in by delegates. We encourage reflective practice. Understanding and managing our own behavioural and emotional responses to conflict is an important feature of this programme.
Barry Winbolt is Chair of Conflict Resolution at IFT and Head of Training and Clinical Development at PPC Worldwide. He is a regulator presenter at international conferences, author, systemic therapist and mediator.
